Cityscape

A swirl of shadow races across
The clear blue sky that seem to hang
Turning mid-air to follow a pathway
Imprinted on the memories of hundreds
Vanishing behind trees and houses
To reappear on the cityscaped horizon
Twisting once more they fly past
To land settling on tiles and guttering
Roosts long argued for by nature
As the starlings rest for the night
Jostling and crying out into the night
Amazing feat of aerobatics gone
To be remembered again tomorrow
